The Opportunity
As part of our Credit team, you’ll take ownership of managing domestic accounts across our heating, hot water, and electricity networks. Your focus will be on building strong relationships with customers across our flagship sites, ensuring bills are settled promptly, while providing the right support to any customers who may be struggling to make payments.

You’ll have the chance to develop into a Credit Controller, gaining experience across the full spectrum of debt recovery services for both domestic and commercial customers. This includes first-line telephony support, handling customer correspondence, securing payments, and the debt letter process.

Key Responsibilities
- Handling inbound and outbound debt calls
- Negotiating payment plans within the regulatory guidance
- Referring at risk customers to available third-party support channels
- Chasing and monitoring outstanding debt by phone/e-mail
- Adhere to debt collection obligations and license conditions
- Assessing customers’ ability to pay their debts, including I&E
- Identifying and supporting customers in vulnerable financial situations
- Taking payments and providing payment routes to customers
- Raising customer disputes to get them resolved quickly
- Referring accounts for trace or gone away activity
- Support on any reasonable task from management to support on team and business priorities
About You
- Good core IT skills inclusive of knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Mail Merge
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills and effective negotiation techniques
- Understanding of best-in-sector credit control policies
- Ability to build on-going relationships with internal and external customers and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of litigation and provisioning options available to utilities markets
- Ability to adapt as priorities or demands change and initiate action
